At the invitation of China Theatrical Equipment Association, Guangdong Science and Technology International Exchange Center, Shanghai Culture & Broadcasting Group, Shanghai Stage Arts Association and other organizations, Karl G. Ruling, ESTA Technical Standard Manager, and his wife Martha LoMonaco arrived in China on July 22th for a working visit of 10 days, which absorbed great attention and got warm welcome from the corresponding experts and persons in the lighting and audio industry. This activity is sponsored by General Design Department of Rigging Ministry and Guangzhou Hedong Electronic Co Ltd.

Speeches on "Lighting, Sound and Stage Machinery Standards in the United States" and "American Scenography" were respectively made by Karl and Martha in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing, which promoted a friendly exchange on both standard developing and academic communication. And Mr Liu Changrong, a famous expert in Stage Machinery controlling, also delivered a speech on "The Solutions for integrating Stage Machinery control network with Lighting control network ".

Karl helped us get a brief view of some of the standards particularly relevant to lighting and sound control, and described how the standards are written. He also made a brief introduction to ESTA and its working groups. People really learned more about ESTA and its standards work.  During their visit in China, Karl and Martha inspected the People's Great Hall of China, Shenzhen TV Center and many other control systems applied in many other venues.

In Guangzhou, Karl visited Guangzhou Pearl River Enterprises Group and Guangzhou Hedong Electronic Co Ltd, and discussed about the HDLNET full Optical Fiber lighting control system and ACN protocol.
